Shipping SpecialistAs a Shipping Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the efficient movement of goods within our facility. Your primary responsibilities will include transporting goods from storage areas to loading areas, unloading deliveries, and ensuring the safe relocation of these goods to their designated storage spaces.ResponsibilitiesMove goods from storage areas to loading areas for transport.Unload deliveries and safely relocate goods to designated storage areas.Manage materials handling tasks, including stacking, sorting, and storing products in designated areas.Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize workflows and maintain inventory accuracy within the warehouse management system.Assist in shipping and receiving activities, ensuring all documentation is completed accurately.Ensure forklift driving areas are free from spills or obstructions.Regularly check forklift equipment for faults or damages.Use industrial plastic wraps and wooden pallets to safely stack and package goods for transport.Stay up to date on health and safety requirements and forklift operating procedures.Consolidate partial pallets for incoming goods.Essential SkillsProficiency in forklift operation, including sit-down propane forklifts with 2 years of experience.Ability to load manufacturing equipment on a 53' flatbed trailer.Experience with PLEX systems.Experience loading and unloading a truck with a hilo.Experience with inventory cycle counts.Experience with staging shipments.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in production, assembly, and inventory management.Why Work Here?Join a large family-owned company where you'll benefit from good insurance, 401k, PTO, and a hands-on management approach that values employee contributions.Work EnvironmentThis position is based in a manufacturing environment, working a first shift from 6 am to 4:30 pm with additional hours on Saturdays. The role requires a commitment of 50-60 hours per week.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling Heights, MI.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
