Medication Assistant, Certified, Assisted Living (Straight Nights)

Facility: GSS SD Rapid City St Martin Location: Rapid City, SD Address: 4825 Jericho Way, Rapid City, SD 57702, USA Shift: 12 Hours - Night Shifts Job Schedule: Full time Weekly Hours: 36.00 Salary Range: $21.00 - $28.00 Job Summary The Medication Assistant (MA) serves as caregiver who provides resident‑centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. The MA delivers age‑appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of each resident per the plan of care. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care activities such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, providing psycho‑social support, and assisting with transfers and mobility using correct transfer techniques and equipment. The MA also performs activities related to food preparation and dining, creates a positive dining experience, administers prescribed medications within licensure scope, documents care outcomes, and communicates changes to the charge nurse. Additional duties include specimen collection, housekeeping and laundry support, and participation in wellness and recreational programs. Qualifications High‑school graduate or GED (preferred but not required) Minimum age 18 (preferred) Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience (preferred) State‑specific certifications: Iowa – Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with State Board of Nursing and Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course; Minnesota – Nursing assistant certification, 75‑hour course, registered with Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry, and Trained Medication Assistant course; North Dakota – Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with State Board of Nursing, Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course; Medication Assistant I for Assisted Living/Basic Care facilities or Medication Assistant II for skilled nursing facilities; South Dakota – Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course; Good Samaritan Society locations – CMA or TMA certification, with prior CNA certification. Certification maintenance: Complete yearly department‑specific competency testing and maintain at least 12 hours of continuing education annually.
