Safety Specialist

Job Description If you are looking for an opportunity to be part of an amazing organization, look no further! We are seeking a Safety Operations Specialist. M-F 8am - 5pm DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures. Coordinates the safety programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment. Evaluates the effectiveness of safety programs. Reviews current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates. Submits recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management. Coordinate with program and/or executive director to suspend any activities that could harm staff or equipment. Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems. Shares environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization. Coordinates with program director/executive director in preparing and implementing departmental budget. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules. Performs other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Extensive knowledge of emergency preparedness. Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to conduct training and regular drills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Must be able to work as a team to complete complicated, time sensitive goals. Must be free of alcohol and/or drugs on a daily basis. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Associate’s degree (minimum) in Environmental Health and Safety, or related field. At least five years of safety experience required. Advanced training or certification in safety.
