Cardiovascular Technician

Job TitleThis position involves working hours from 9am to 9pm, three days a week with no weekend shifts. The responsibilities include monitoring patient's blood pressures and informing the physician of any changes from baseline, monitoring the position of catheter in the heart by interpreting intracardiac pressures, recording pressures in all chambers requested by the physician, maintaining a complete record of all events occurring during a procedure using the Cardiac Cath Lab computer, calibrating and operating equipment during procedures, including A-Vox, Cardiac Output, and ACT, informing the physician and monitoring CVT of results, supplying the physician with equipment during procedures, such as catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, analyzing and processing data through the computer, printing out all appropriate information, setting up and calibrating the intra-aortic balloon pump, setting the initial timing and fine-tuning with the physician, monitoring the balloon pump during procedure and staying with the patient until they are in the CCU, OR, or CSICU, assisting in emergency situations by performing resuscitation measures such as operating a defibrillator, performing artificial resuscitation, and using an external pacemaker, replenishing supplies in the lab as necessary and performing preventative maintenance on equipment, notifying the supervisor of any serious malfunctions and equipment shortages, learning and applying new technology and procedures as they are introduced to the Cardiac Cath Lab, such as Flow wire, ultrasound, and rotablator, operating power injector for large volume dye contrast injections, assisting in cardiac catheterizations by setting up equipment and instruments in a sterile field, setting up rooms for each patient by entering name, MR number, and appropriate information into the DX, and assisting the nursing staff by transporting patients from one area to the next.Requirements include proficiency in MS Office Suite. Preferred skills include RCIS certification.
