Medical Assistant – Full Time (Primary Care)

Location: 240 N Wickham Road, Suite 300, Melbourne, FL 32935

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM–5:30 PM

Pay Range: $23–$25 per hour (based on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, patient-focused Medical Assistant to support a single provider in a busy primary care/Dermatology setting. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is confident assisting with procedures, and is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care. You will help care for 20–30 patients per day and play a key role in ensuring smooth clinical operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Complete patient intakes, including vital signs, medical histories, and medication/allergy reviews.
2. Assist the provider with examinations, minor procedures, wound care, and diagnostic testing.
3. Perform EKGs, immunizations, and specimen collection per policy and competency standards.
4. Prepare, label, and process laboratory samples and point-of-care tests.
5. Maintain infection control, safety protocols, and equipment calibration.
6. Support patient triage, care coordination, and transitions across clinical settings.
7. Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, chronic conditions, and preventive care.
8. Document all clinical data and provider instructions accurately in the EHR.
9. Schedule and track appointments, referrals, authorizations, and test results.
10. Verify insurance coverage and assist with prior authorizations, billing, and coding.
11. Maintain inventory and prepare exam/procedure rooms with necessary supplies.
12. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and safety drills.
13. Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and interdisciplinary teams.
14. Uphold HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, and all compliance standards.
15. Provide excellent customer service and culturally competent care.
16. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA)
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience required.
• Primary Care or Internal Medicine experience required.
• Dermatology experience is a plus.
• Potential travel to Melbourne, Merritt Island, and Vero Beach.
• BLS certification preferred.
• Active MA certification and ongoing continuing education required.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• EHR experience preferred; basic computer literacy required.
• Skilled in vital signs, EKGs, specimen collection, and assisting with procedures.
• Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to multitask, follow workflows, and maintain confidentiality.
• Professionalism and accountability aligned with organizational values.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 15 lbs independently (up to 50 lbs with assistance).
• Frequent repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, and fingers.
• Close visual acuity for computer work, documentation, and specimen handling.
