Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular/open heart procedures, including patient assessment, positioning, sterile technique, and instrument handling
- Circulate or scrub for procedures as assigned; when floated, circulate only (not scrub) and maintain patient safety and sterile field
- Monitor intraoperative patient status, assist anesthesia and surgical team, manage hemodynamic changes, and document events in Epic
- Prepare and stock ORs with appropriate equipment, instruments, supplies, implants, and prosthetics; ensure correct counts and equipment function
- Maintain clear, accurate communication with surgeons, anesthesia providers, scrub technologists, and support staff throughout cases
- Manage postoperative handoff, ensure duty-free transfer of patient information, and participate in immediate post-op care as required
- Work across multiple OR suites (General, Orthopedic, Neuro, ENT, etc.) as needed; adapt to unit needs and maintain high standards of patient safety
- Adhere to facility policies, infection control, and hospital quality and safety initiatives
- Complete required documentation and EPIC charting within the specified timeframes

Requirements
- Active RN license to practice in the United States
- BLS certification required; CNOR certification preferred
- SCRUB HEARTS required
- Minimum 2 years OR RN experience with recent cardiovascular/open heart case exposure
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Ability to work in a high-volume, academic teaching hospital setting
- Flexibility to float to other OR suites as needed; if floated, circulating duties apply
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site
