Summary/Objective: Responsible for preparing charts, scanning and filing documents into the Electronic Health Record.

Supervision Received: Reports to Office Manager/Team Leader.

Supervision Exercised: None.
Essential Functions:

Create and maintain electronic medical records.
Transmits medical information to requesting parties via secure computer.
Uses computer to track chart inquires, tasks, patient portal requests, medical records, and to access other pertinent information.
Reviews each chart for accuracy and completion before releasing the chart for a patient visit
Answers and receives phone calls related to medical records requests.

Education: High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited medical terminology course.

Experience: One year of medical records experience is preferred but not required.

Requirements: Minimum of one year of general clerical and computer experience.

Competencies

Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type simple correspondence.
Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make simple calculations.
Skill in using computer programs and applications.
Skill in using courteous and professional telephone manner.
Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instruction.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.

The job holder must demonstrate current competencies applicable to job position

Minimal travel between JWM sites required. Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance.
