Registered Behavior TechnicianThe Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) will provide behavioral interventions in the school setting, utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to teach communication, social, and daily living skills, while reducing problematic behaviors. The RBT will work directly with students to implement behavior intervention plans, collect data, assist in assessments, and support the Behavior Analyst, Behavior Coordinator, and School Psychologist as needed.QualificationsLicensing/Certification: Valid North Carolina Driver's License Completion of a BACB approved RBT course and successful completion of the RBT certification exam Education: Associate's degree preferred High school diploma or equivalent required Experience: At least five (5) years of successful experience working with children with Autism or related developmental disabilities in a school or clinical setting Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilitiesEssential FunctionsFollow prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols Provide direct services to students, both 1:1 and in group settings, using a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training Collect, record, and summarize data related to student progress Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding student progress under the guidance of the Behavior Analyst Maintain client confidentiality in adherence to FERPA and HIPAA laws Assist with skill acquisition and behavior reduction assessments Prepare client materials as instructed by the Behavior Analyst or Behavior Coordinator Conduct professional development sessions with school staff and/or parents Abide by school policies, the Board of Education's guidelines, and the code of ethics outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification BoardKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesAbility to follow behavioral protocols and implement clinical practices effectively Strong data collection, analysis, and reporting skills Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community Strong organizational and time management skills Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) practices and behavioral interventions Ability to interpret and implement clinical protocols and written instructions Commitment to ongoing training and professional development Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environmentReports To: EC Director/PrincipalPhysical DemandsMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds Must be able to assist in lifting and carrying students with adaptive equipment Must be able to maintain various postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods Must be able to restrain, hold, transport, and engage in quick body movements as required by the behavior intervention plan Ability to use manual dexterity for data collection on electronic devices Must be physically present at the assigned job location Must have the visual acuity to read and comprehend written materialsWork EnvironmentMust be able to work in office and public-school environments, engaging directly with staff and students Travel is required to various schools and Central Services offices Work is typically done in an office setting or within school environments with occasional direct student interactionSalary Grade: 67Terms of Employment: 10 Months FLSA Status: Non-Exempt OSHA: The employee is not to handle any human body fluids, biological agents, laboratory chemicals, or be exposed to hazardous materials such as noise, asbestos, or carcinogens ADA: The employer will make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 This job description will be reviewed periodically as duties and responsibilities change with business necessity.
