University of Washington: Academic Personnel & Faculty: School of Medicine: Pediatrics: Pediatrics, Emergency Medicine Location Seattle, WA Open Date Jul 28, 2026 Description The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Emergency Medicine at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor without tenure by reason of funding (WOT), on the Clinician-Scholar track, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described inUW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment (3-year term, renewable, if Assistant Professor). Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Associate and full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). As the second largest Department in the UW School of Medicine, Pediatrics has twenty-one clinical divisions with approximately 1,400 academic appointments, including approximately 650 paid faculty members, 134 residents, 70 ACGME fellows, 230 staff employees and over 600 volunteer/affiliate faculty and continues to grow each year. The Department of Pediatrics is a close affiliate of Seattle Children's Hospital (SCH) and Seattle Children's Research Institute (SCRI). Faculty members appointed in the Department are located at various institutions (including Seattle Children’s, UW Medicine, and FHCRC), and are part of the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) clinical practice plan. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in direct clinical activities as an attending physician, responsible for providing and supervising the care of patients at sites of care for Pediatric Emergency Services; participate in local, regional and national activities that will promote clinical interests as well as develop career goals; assist in faculty development efforts during career progression; and assist the department in its development through committee memberships as requested. The faculty member will be an active participant in medical student, resident, and fellow education programs and will work diligently to continually grow as a teacher and educator. Faculty member clinical responsibilities in the Emergency Department will also include attending meetings to further divisional educational and research efforts, as well as interdisciplinary and department opportunities. Faculty opportunities, and participation in committees and other administrative activities, will be reviewed on an annual basis. Candidates will be considered across a range of interests in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, teaching, research, and service. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, prior experience in Pediatric Emergency Medicine quality improvement leadership efforts. All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service. The base salary range for this position will be Assistant Professor - $17,517 - $26,276 per month ($210,204 - $315,312 annually), Associate Professor - $19,858 - $29,788 per month ($238,296 - $357,456 annually), Full Professor - $22,874 - $34,312 per month ($274,488 - $411,744 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through Children’s University Medical Group practice plan. Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Must be Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in Emergency Medicine and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington.
