Senior Accountant: Construction & Project Finance Lead

About the Opportunity A well-established construction and project services firm in Northern New Jersey is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its growing finance team. The Role The Senior Accountant will support core accounting operations, month-end close, and project financial reporting. Working closely with project managers and operational leadership, this individual will help ensure accurate job costing, clean financial reporting, and timely financial visibility across active projects. Key Responsibilities Manage general ledger activities including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Prepare internal financial reports and support variance analysis across projects and departments Maintain job cost reporting, WIP schedules, and project-related accounting records Track project expenses including labor, subcontractors, materials, and change orders Support percentage-of-completion accounting and revenue recognition processes Assist with billing, forecasting, and cash flow reporting Support audit preparation, GAAP compliance, and ongoing process improvements Maintain accurate financial data within Sage Intacct Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably within construction, engineering, or project-based industries Strong general ledger, reconciliation, and close experience Exposure to job costing and WIP accounting preferred Sage Intacct experience required Advanced Excel skills CPA or CPA-track preferred, but not required Why This Role Stable and well-established organization with strong project backlog High-visibility Senior Accountant role with real ownership and cross-functional exposure Strong combination of corporate accounting and project finance responsibilities Supportive leadership team with long employee tenure and growth potential Competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits #J-18808-Ljbffr HireIQ
