At Camp Akiba, we strive to encourage and support our entire camp community. While there are many summer camps to choose from, what makes Camp Akiba truly special is our people. Beyond our facilities and picturesque location, the heart of Akiba lies in its community.

We're looking for a hardworking and dependable Maintenance & Facilities Tech to help keep our camp safe, functional, and looking great! Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, landscaping, minor repairs, painting, moving furniture, and general upkeep. Ideal candidates are handy, reliable, and enjoy working outdoors.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carry out scheduled cleaning duties and preventative maintenance on buildings and equipment, as requested.
• Assist with general building and facility maintenance and upkeep as needed.
• Perform all duties related to landscaping.
• Perform minor repair maintenance.
• Report major repairs needed promptly.
• Organize, streamline, consolidate, and maintain good housekeeping in the shop area.
• Must have ability to move furniture, repair and paint walls, change light bulbs, hang pictures, etc.
• Clean windows and doors on both inside and outside; may clean bathrooms, as needed.
• In cold weather, may sand sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate.
• Must be able to perform light carpentry throughout the site.
• Maintain safe work practices during equipment maintenance functions.
• Perform other duties as requested/required.

Qualifications include:

• Must have good communication skills.
• Good understanding of mechanical systems such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.
• Possess basic troubleshooting and mechanical skills; be mechanically inclined/basic mechanical aptitude.
• Capable of working in hot, cold, or dusty areas.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Capable of standing, walking, kneeling, etc. for long periods of time.

Education/certifications:

• High School Diploma
• Attended/attending trade school a plus

Working conditions include:

• Exposure to weather conditions and physical activity in outdoor environments.
• Ability to lift/move/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Required to walk, stand, sit, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and balance/stoop/bend/kneel/climb.
