Military DoD SkillBridge ProgramThe Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member's suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job DescriptionOur ACSC facility develops and conducts a wide array of engine component repairs – including rotating parts, complex assemblies and nozzles on 29 different engine models.The structure parts operations supervisor will perform the daily operations of plants to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line. Includes Service Shops. Responsible for departmental operations planning/execution or is focused on execution of professional activities within a technical discipline. Functions with some autonomy but guided by established policies or review of end results.Service members who led maintenance, production, repair, fabrication, or industrial operations teams in a high-tempo, process-driven environment could be a strong military fit for this role.Role Overview:Oversight and management of front-line manufacturing employees. Typically managing hourly employee populations.Includes direct people management responsibility including staffing and performance development. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the marketUses some judgment and has some ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complicated manufacturing processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles. Uses technical experience and analytical thinking. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with low risks and resource requirements. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.Basic Qualifications:Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of Military serviceBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 3+ years of manufacturing shop experience (or a minimum high school diploma/GED with an additional 4+ years of manufacturing shop experience)3+ years of manufacturing leadership experience (or military equivalent)Preferred Qualifications:Aviation industry experience preferredStrong mechanical engineering background preferredRepair manufacturing shop experience (or military equivalent) desiredDemonstrated ability to plan and execute production delivery efforts in accordance with the shop floor and cross functional teamsDemonstrated ability to lead teams and improve performance of team executionStrong oral and written communication skills with site cross functional support teams, shop floor workforce, management, and customersDemonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problemsAptitude for lean and continuous improvement conceptsAbility to document, plan, market, and execute programsEstablished project management skillsAbility to use data to make best decisions with turnaround time (TAT) in mindThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
