Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, meeting all mandated health requirements, documented evidence of a clear criminal record, food production skills, the ability to use commercial kitchen equipment, and the ability to comply with nutrition, health, and safety regulations. Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts, meet all prerequisite qualifications to be bonded, and possess a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record. Abilities required include professionalism, maintaining a positive work attitude, working cooperatively to support a successful team effort, communicating effectively, completing detailed paperwork accurately, reacting productively to interruptions and changing conditions, averting problem situations and intervening to resolve conflicts, lifting, carrying, and/or moving food service supplies and equipment, performing repetitive tasks quickly, distinguishing variances in color, texture, aroma, and taste, performing activities that may require reaching, crouching, kneeling, and/or crawling, maintaining an acceptable attendance record and being punctual, and traveling to meetings and work assignments.

The Board of Education believes that quality education is not possible in an environment affected by drugs. It will seek, therefore, to establish and maintain an educational setting which is not tainted by the use or evidence of use of any controlled substance. The Board shall not permit the manufacture, possession, use, distribution, or dispensing of any controlled substance, alcohol, and any drug paraphernalia as the term is defined by law, by any member of the District's classified staff at any time while on District property or while involved in any District-related activity or event. Any staff member who violates this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with District guidelines and the terms of collective bargaining agreements. The Superintendent shall establish guidelines that ensure compliance with this policy and that each staff member is given a copy of the standards regarding unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by staff and informed that compliance with this requirement is mandatory. Such guidelines shall provide for appropriate disciplinary actions, if and when needed, which comply with the terms of any negotiated agreement.
