Commissioning Authority - Data Center/Mission Critical - Los Angeles

The Opportunity Glumac, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking a Commissioning Authority to join our world‑class Data Center Commissioning Team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience with Data Center projects as well as exposure to all project types across a global leader in the construction space. Position Summary Commissioning is a quality assurance process that ensures systems and components are installed and operate as intended. In this role you will work both in the office and in the field, performing hands‑on testing of a range of systems to improve building performance, energy efficiency, reliability and occupant comfort. You will lead and manage the commissioning process for assigned projects, conduct field functional testing, create checklists, document results, maintain issue logs and reports, and support project management tasks while following internal procedures, industry standards and safe work practices. Essential Job Functions Conduct field functional testing. Create pre‑functional and functional checklists. Lead commissioning meetings and manage the commissioning process for assigned projects. Perform field observations and document test results. Maintain issue resolution logs and compile commissioning reports. Assist with project management duties as needed. Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation and industry standards. Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness. Work safely at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns. Additional duties as required. Required Qualifications A bachelor’s or advanced degree in engineering or a related field, or industry‑equivalent experience. 8+ years of related industry experience with 2+ years in data‑center commissioning, operations or construction. ANSI/ISO accreditation Cx certification (BCxA CCP, ACG CxA, ASHRAE BCxP). Strong technical knowledge of data‑center MEP system design and operation, controls and instrumentation. Project management expertise: scheduling, budgeting and resource planning. Exceptional client‑facing, client relationship and client management skills. Ability to work autonomously and in team environments. Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Safety‑first mindset. Physical ability to climb ladders/stairs and lift/carry loads above 20 lbs. Availability for extended periods on a job site (8–10 hours). Willingness and ability to travel as needed, approximately 50 %. Valid driver’s license and insurance. Preferred Qualifications Professional licensure: PE license, Energy Management or TAB certifications. Experience managing QA/QC processes. Electrical systems commissioning experience. Experience with commissioning software or ongoing commissioning tools. Military Experience Experience from military service maintaining, operating or testing nuclear power or other power systems (power systems, battery systems, steam generation, hydroelectric plants, medium voltage distribution, etc.). Experience in commissioning, testing or quality assurance of medium voltage power systems that include power plants, solar, electric vehicle charging, critical power systems and more. Work Environment and Location This position requires regular travel to data center project sites: 50–70 % travel expected. The hybrid work environment requires two in‑office and/or on‑site days per week. All candidates must be located in and eligible to work in the United States. Compensation Salary Range: $110,000 – $180,000 (depending on experience). Actual salaries will be determined based on location, experience, responsibilities and qualifications.
