Middle School Band TeacherAmerican Heritage School is a mission-driven, faith-centered private school aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, seeking a full-time Middle School Band Teacher who is committed to academic excellence and student development in a faith-centered environment. This role is designed for an educator who is passionate about helping students grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially while supporting the school's mission and values. The ideal candidate will create a classroom atmosphere that inspires creativity, musical excellence, encourages personal growth, and reflects Christian principles in daily teaching and interactions.Nature of the RoleThis position is considered a faith-forming role within the school community. In addition to providing strong music instruction, the teacher is expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The role requires a teacher who can positively influence students through both instruction and personal example, fostering a classroom culture grounded in faith, respect, and discipleship.QualificationsQualified candidates should possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent and have at least two years of teaching experience, preferably within a formal educational setting. Successful applicants will demonstrate a genuine love for teaching and mentoring youth, strong classroom management and communication skills, the ability to prepare engaging lesson plans with clear learning objectives, as well as a commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Candidates should also bring enthusiasm, consistency, and professionalism to the classroom while remaining committed to ongoing professional growth and the use of varied instructional methods to support student learning.Faith and Mission ResponsibilitiesIn addition to academic responsibilities, teachers at AHS are expected to integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate, serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students, support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues, participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities, and respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission.Professional ExpectationsCandidates should be professional in appearance and demeanor and willing and able to serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement. Personal conduct, public statements, and online presence, both on and off campus, are expected to reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose.Teaching ResponsibilitiesThe Middle School Band Teacher should bring a warm, energetic, and engaging presence that helps students feel supported, challenged, and inspired. Successful candidates will demonstrate strong musical knowledge and the ability to teach instrumental performance techniques in a clear, organized, and meaningful way. Teachers should foster creativity, musical confidence, and disciplined practice habits while helping students develop individual musicianship and ensemble performance skills. The ideal educator will create engaging rehearsals that build technical proficiency, musical expression, teamwork, and performance readiness while maintaining strong pacing, organization, and enthusiasm throughout instruction. The teacher should also effectively prepare students for concerts, performances, festivals, and other school music events that showcase student learning and musical growth.Communication and OrganizationCandidates should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and maintain purposeful classroom routines that support effective learning. Responsibilities include creating and posting assignments with clear instructions, models, and rubrics; monitoring and communicating student progress consistently; coordinating rehearsals and performances; and maintaining collaborative, timely, and positive communication with parents and colleagues. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for supporting student success and maintaining a productive classroom environment. Experience working with students who have specific learning disabilities is considered beneficial but is not required.Extracurricular OpportunitiesApplicants are encouraged to share any interest or experience in supporting AHS extracurricular athletics programs.
