Development Manager

The Development Manager is a key member of the Development team responsible for executing Neighborhood House’s fundraising strategy and overseeing the day-to-day operations of development activities. This role translates strategic direction set by the Executive Director and Director of Community Engagement and Community Health into coordinated, high-quality fundraising initiatives, donor engagement efforts, and community outreach. The Development Manager directly supervises the Development team, ensuring strong project management, clear accountability, and consistent progress toward revenue goals. This role also supports a portfolio of mid- and high-level donors and plays a leadership role in campaigns, events, and annual fundraising efforts.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

Supervise and support Development team staff, including setting goals, providing coaching, and conducting regular check-ins and performance evaluation Manage day-to-day workflow of the Development team to ensure priorities are clear and deadlines are met Foster a collaborative, accountable, and mission-driven team culture Coordinate across departments to align fundraising, communications, and programmatic priorities Lead the execution of annual fundraising plans developed by the Director of Community Engagement & Community Health. Research potential donors, sponsors, and funding sources Assist with grants as needed, including grant writing, editing, and reporting. Oversee implementation of key revenue streams, including: Annual fund and direct mail campaigns Events and community-based fundraising initiatives Donor stewardship and engagement strategies Track progress toward fundraising goals and adjust tactics as needed in collaboration with leadership With oversight from the department director, organize and implement Neighborhood House's annual fundraising events and campaigns, including the organization's annual gala, community fundraising events, donor cultivation events, and other signature initiatives. Develop and manage event timelines, project plans, and cross-functional coordination to ensure successful execution. Partner with the department director and Executive Director to implement fundraising strategies that maximize revenue, donor engagement, and community participation. Evaluate event outcomes and recommend improvements based on fundraising performance, attendee engagement, and organizational goals. Manage a portfolio of25-30midandhigh-leveldonors and prospects, supporting cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship Lead donor engagement efforts across the team, ensuring timely and meaningful interactions. Coordinate donor meetings and engagement opportunities for senior leadership Ensure consistent donor communications are aligned with organizational messaging and fundraising goals Community Outreach & Partnerships Represent Neighborhood House in the community through tabling events, resource fairs, at faith community events, city events, etc. , to build and maintain donor relationships and increase visibility Support outreach efforts that expand donor base and strengthen community partnerships Collaborate with internal teams to align outreach with programmatic impact and story telling and to support outreach and community engagement. Development Operations & Systems Oversee development operations, including: Donor database management (e.g., Raiser's Edge) Gift processing and acknowledgment systems Reporting and tracking of fundraising performance Ensure data integrity and effective use of donor data to inform fundraising strategies Provide reporting out to Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors Manage timelines and logistics for campaigns, appeals, and events Content & Communications Oversight Provide direction and oversight for development-related communications, including: Appeals and donor updates Event messaging and materials Stewardship communications Ensure messaging is donor-centered, compelling, and aligned with best practices

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position directly supervises the Development team. This role is responsible for any relevant hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of the Development team and will be expected to provide clear direction, prioritization, and accountability for team deliverables. REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES, COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS To perform this role successfully, an individual must demonstrate the following competencies: Strong experience in nonprofit fundraising, including annual giving, events, and donor engagement Demonstrated experience managing staff or leading cross-functional teams Experience using donor database platforms (Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, etc ) Ability to execute strategy and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including donor-facing experience Experience using donor databases and fundraising data to drive decisions Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution Experience working within diverse cultural communities Demonstrated experience leading teams Strong organizational, analytical, and operational leadership skills Ability to work collaboratively, strategically, and independently in a fast-paced environment Ability to adapt to changing organizational and community needs whilemaintainingstrategic focus Proactive and solutions-oriented Adaptable and comfortable working in evolving environment Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, marketing, non-profit management, or a related fieldor equivalent experience A minimum of four years of non profit development or related roles, with increasing responsibility A minimum of three years supervisory or team leadership experience Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar CRM strongly preferred Proficiencywith Microsoft Office and project management tools Proficiency with data tracking tools and systems (e.g., CRM platforms, spreadsheets, project management tools) REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, CREDENTIALS AND/OR REGISTRATIONS This position requires driving. A valid driver’s license, insurance, and a personal vehicle or other reliable transportation is required as this position may visit multiple locations on the same day.
