Hybrid work expectations are subject to business needs and company policy.Job PurposeThe Senior Data Engineering Manager is a dynamic, collaborative leader responsible for guiding the design and delivery of scalable, high-performing data solutions in a large-volume enterprise environment. This role oversees engineering teams responsible for solution implementation and ensures technical design decisions are clearly communicated to business and technology stakeholders.The position will support a major IT initiative focused on improving how National Grid employees serve customers today while building the data platform needed to support future growth.Key AccountabilitiesProvide oversight of system designs, plus data solution development including data migration and extracts to/from a variety of systems.Provide day-to-day managerial support and leadership of multiple engineering teams responsible for implementation of a strategic data platform.Ensure that there are consistent updates to Jira boards, system documentation, data catalogs and the governance platform.Participate in and provide oversight of design and pre-deployment (governance) reviews.Participate in design database design reviewsProvide oversight of business-as-usual and system-conversion initiativesParticipate in annual budget, business case, and quarterly planningAssist in determining the cross-application data standards, data distribution standards and promote data-driven designMonitor deliverables ensuring quality and traceability to requirements and adherence to all quality management plans and governance standardsWork with the team to ensure that all components work together to meet objectives and performance goals as defined in the requirements. Identify and communicate any cross-area or cross-release issues that may affect other areas of the projectParticipate in go-live preparation activities such as QA, dress rehearsals, issue remediation, cutover and go-live aftercareParticipate in data management maturity assessments to identify gaps and pain points for capabilities including data quality, governance, analytics, metadata management, master data managementCoordinate responses and artifact collection for periodic auditsSeek opportunities for continuous improvement in processes, procedures and systems with regards to dataQualifications10+ years’ experience in database development: Snowflake (preferred), SQL Server, Oracle, etc.5 years’ experience in supervisory roles leading engineers/SW developersExperience in a dynamic work environmentProven ability to work well in a team environment, and be capable of building and maintaining positive relationships with other staff, departments, and customersStrong communication skills, written and oralExperience with MS AzureExperience with cloud data architectureExperience with Snowflake is a plusExperience with ETL methods, system integration techniquesExperience with Reporting environments (Power BI preferred)Experience with data governance programsExperience with maintenance, and operational support programs/processes.Experience with budgetingVendor management skillsExperience with Agile/Lean software development process and practice is a plusExperience in with SaaS solutions such as Salesforce, ESRI and Workforce is a plus#LI-RK1 #LI-HYBRID SalaryWaltham: $165k - $194k a yearBrooklyn: $177k - $208k a yearNational Grid will not be providing visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future.
