Registered Nurse (Neuro ICU) - Marrero, LA (#SM0113) Location: Marrero, LA Employment Type: Per-Diem Hourly Rate: $44.06 per hour Position Overview We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse (Neuro ICU) to fill an opening at a hospital located in Marrero, LA. This role requires a highly skilled RN to care for critically ill patients with neurological conditions such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, seizures, and post-neurosurgical complications. Qualifications Education: Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree). Licensure: Active Louisiana state RN license and current BLS Certification. ACLS and NIHSS certification are required. Experience: At least one year of relevant experience is required. Technical Skills: Proficient in continuous hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, EVD management, ICP monitoring, administration of titratable vasoactive and sedative drips, and rapid neurologic assessment (Glasgow Coma Scale). Soft Skills: Exceptional critical thinking and rapid decision-making abilities; calm under pressure; strong attention to detail; excellent communication with multidisciplinary teams and families. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive and frequent neurologic assessments, including pupil checks, motor/sensory function, cranial nerve evaluation, and GCS scoring. Monitor and manage patients with stroke (tPA administration, post-thrombectomy care), TBI, status epilepticus, brain tumors, and post-craniotomy. Manage invasive monitoring devices such as ICP monitors, EVDs, and arterial lines. Titrate continuous IV infusions (propofol, nicardipine, levetiracetam, mannitol, hypertonic saline, and vasopressors). Operate and troubleshoot ventilators; maintain airway patency and manage secretions. Collaborate with neurosurgeons, neurologists, respiratory therapists, and bedside staff for timely interventions. Provide emotional support and education to families regarding complex neurologic conditions and prognosis. Maintain rapid response readiness for acute neurologic deterioration, including herniation syndromes or status epilepticus.
