Sonographer I Position Details Department: PCH-EV JV | Ultrasound Location: Gilbert Shift: Mon‑Fri, Sat, Sun (Days Vary); 8am‑5pm Category: Radiology/Imaging Services Posting #: 1026078 Employee Type: PRN Position Summary This position performs a variety of ultrasound imaging procedures to provide data for diagnosis and monitoring of disease and injuries in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and licensing requirements. Requires competency in a variety of equipment and technology. Performs duties in a range of acute care pediatric‑centered settings. Position Duties Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations on patients for interpretation by a radiologist. Determine proper technique and positioning to ensure optimal results in accordance with all applicable standards, protocols, and procedures. Follow department triage guidelines based on patient acuity and exam prioritization. Maintain a safe environment for patients and families, and advocate appropriately. Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions to ensure continuous proper and safe operations of ultrasound equipment. Report service needs and preventive maintenance issues as appropriate. Create a detailed report to include pertinent medical history, ultrasound findings, and measurements for presentation to interpreting physicians. Report is clear, concise, and grammatically correct. Interact professionally and project a positive image of the ultrasound team. Provide ultrasound safety information to patients, families, and all other affected parties to ensure thorough understanding of the study being performed. Maintain professional and technical competency through continual pursuit of knowledge and self‑improvement by remaining apprised of current literature, practices, and new developments in the field of ultrasound. Perform finalizing functions using radiology information system (RIS) to facilitate timely and accurate results and charge capture. Archive records in accordance with Radiologist(s) specifications. Participate in restocking and room turnover to provide efficient, effective, and safe department operations. Follow established infection prevention policies and procedures for proper transducer cleaning. Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested. Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program. Experience Completion of an ultrasound clinical rotation through an ultrasound program. Previous pediatric experience. Special Skills Ability to work independently and in a team environment, both within the department and within the organization, to provide the best family‑centered care through effective communication and operational efficiency. Additional Requirements ARDMS registered in at least one of the following: OB/GYN, Abdomen, Neuro, Vascular, Pediatrics, Musculoskeletal. Vascular registry required within 12 months of hire (RVT preferred over RVS). Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association. Certification / License / Registry Requirements for the Position RDMS Abdomen or RDMS Breast or RDMS Neurosonology or RDMS OB/GYN or RDMS PEDS Echocardiogram or RDMS Pediatric Sonography or Amer Reg Ultrasound Tech VAS or Registered MSK Diag Tech – Required. Registered Vascular Specialist or Registered Vascular Tech or REGISTRATION N 1 Yr – Required. Basic Life Support – Required.
