Sushi Chef - Uchiko Houston

Job Description: Sushi Chef – Hai Hospitality (Uchi, Uchiko, Uchiba) In this role, you will serve as a vital member of our team to enrich the culinary and service experience for our guests. We offer $25-$30 per hour and opportunities to grow within the organization. What You’ll Do Acquaint yourself with our menu, current specials, and Japanese cuisine. Learn and perfect your sushi techniques under the guidance of our skilled Chef teams. Understand proper handling and waste reduction of product. Interact with guests at the sushi bar; take orders, explain dishes, and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and the guest. Learn our various sushi stations and progress as your knowledge and skills grows. Collaborate with our teams to create dishes that will be showcased on our specials page and core menu. Qualifications Minimum 4 years of sushi chef experience. Effective communication with guests and employees. Detect and identify safety issues and comply with safety guidelines and standards. Lifting and carrying trays, dishes, equipment, and goods up to 50 lbs; stocking inventory and performing restocking duties. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, stoop, and reach to access various areas. Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and in a variety of temperatures. Lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements. Use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (ovens, grills, knives). Maintain a neat and organized workspace, proper storage of supplies, and clean surfaces. Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs. Work in close proximity to coworkers in a crowded kitchen or serving area. Tolerate exposure to potential allergens and food odors. Maintain a professional and hygienic appearance, including uniform and personal grooming. Understand directives and communicate effectively with leadership and coworkers.
