Business Development Manager

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, the Business Development Manager plays a key role in driving territory growth, supporting dealer development, and expanding market opportunities across Thunder Creek's core industries. This position partners closely with Territory Sales Managers to identify, develop, and advance qualified opportunities while ensuring CRM data integrity, pipeline visibility, and effective lead management. Through a combination of business development, sales support, and cross-functional collaboration, the Business Development Manager helps accelerate revenue growth and strengthen customer and dealer engagement. Position Mission: Create qualified opportunities, support dealer growth, and expand Thunder Creek's presence across key markets by serving as a strategic resource to the sales and marketing organizations. Reports To Vice President of Sales FLSA Status Exempt Employment Type Full-Time Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Exhibit LDJ’s core values and culture in all aspects of the job. Business Development and Prospecting Identify and develop new sales opportunities across agriculture, construction, fuel distribution, transportation, rental, municipal, and commercial market segments. Conduct proactive outbound prospecting through phone, email, social media, industry research, referrals, and market intelligence. Build and maintain target account lists aligned with company growth objectives. Develop and qualify opportunities for engagement by Territory Sales Managers and dealers. Assist sales leadership in identifying strategic growth markets and account opportunities. Lead Nurturing & Opportunity Development Re-engage dormant leads and previously inactive opportunities. Execute follow-up campaigns generated through trade shows, marketing initiatives, customer inquiries, and dealer referrals. Maintain consistent communication with prospects throughout the buying journey. Ensure opportunities progress effectively through the sales funnel. Territory & Dealer Development Support Provide temporary lead coverage and customer support during Territory Sales Manager absences. Assist with strategic account development projects and territory growth plans. Coordinate customer introductions and opportunity transitions to field sales resources when appropriate. Collaborate with Territory Sales Managers to identify and execute growth opportunities within assigned territories. Partner with Marketing to develop customer-facing and dealer-facing training materials. Assist with webinars, product training content, customer success stories, and sales tools. Support new product launches and go-to-market initiatives. Gather customer feedback, market intelligence, and competitive insights. Trade Shows & Events Assist with planning, execution, and follow-up activities for trade shows, dealer meetings, and customer events. Represent Thunder Creek Equipment professionally at industry events. Support lead capture, qualification, follow-up, and reporting activities. Coordinate post-event opportunity development efforts. CRM & Commercial Operations Maintain accurate customer, prospect, and opportunity information within Salesforce. Support CRM data quality and lead management processes. Monitor pipeline activity and engagement metrics. Generate reports and insights for sales leadership as requested. Identify opportunities to improve sales processes and role effectiveness. Key Performance Indicators Performance may be measured through: Qualified opportunities created Pipeline value generated Dormant leads reactivated Strategic accounts identified Salesforce data quality and engagement metrics Trade show and campaign effectiveness Contribution to territory and company growth objectives Qualifications Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills. Strong business acumen and customer-focused mindset. Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities and influence outcomes. Highly organized with strong follow-through and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Strong presentation and training skills preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems. Salesforce experience preferred. Education and Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in business development, sales, dealer development, account management, marketing, or related commercial roles. Experience working through dealer distribution networks strongly preferred. Experience within agriculture, construction, equipment, transportation, fuel, rental, or industrial markets preferred. CRM experience required Travel: Travel requirements are limited but will be required occasionally. This role is designed to provide broad exposure to customers, dealers, markets, products, and sales strategy. Successful candidates may advance into Territory Sales Management, National Accounts, Dealer Development, Product Specialist, Sales Operations, or other commercial leadership positions within the organization.
