Registered Nurse - Stroke Telemetry Unit
Schedule: Shift: 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM
Job Description
The 3B/3C Stroke Telemetry Unit is a high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical environment specializing in the care of acute stroke and complex telemetry patients. This 34-bed unit is designed to deliver evidence-based, protocol-driven care with a strong focus on patient safety, rapid intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Perform and document frequent neurological assessments (including NIH Stroke Scale).
- Monitor and interpret telemetry rhythms and respond to changes in real time.
- Ensure compliance with stroke core measures (dysphagia screening, education, care plans).
- Administer medications using BCMA standards with a focus on safety and accuracy.
- Coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team (providers, therapy, case management).
- Manage admissions, discharges, and patient flow in a high-turnover environment.
- Maintain a constant focus on falls prevention, skin integrity, and patient safety.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certification required.
- Ability to read basic rhythm strips prior to arriving at the facility.
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
