Job DescriptionThe Subcontract Coordinator is responsible for managing all contractual aspects of a rail construction project, ensuring compliance with contract terms, applicable legislation and project requirements. The role oversees a small team of contract administrators and supports successful project delivery by mitigating contractual risk, managing claims and coordinating closely with the Subcontracts Manager, project managers, project controls, procurement and construction and technical teams to ensure all subcontractors comply with contractual obligations, schedule, quality and health and safety standards.Key Responsibilities:Contract Administration ComplianceEnsure subcontracts, supplier agreements and consultant agreements are administered in accordance with project requirementsInterpret contract documents and provide guidance to administrators and project teams to ensure compliance with contract terms, technical specifications, drawings, schedules and applicable law and regulationsChange Management & ClaimsManage change orders, variations, and contract modifications, including pricing, schedule impacts, and approvalsSupport preparation, evaluation, and negotiation of claims, disputes, and time extensionsMaintain detailed records to support entitlement and defend against claimsRisk & Commercial ManagementIdentify contractual and commercial risks and recommend mitigation strategiesMonitor contractor performance, contractual and team KPIsSupport commercial forecasting and cost control related to contract obligationsStakeholder CoordinationCoordinate with engineering, construction, scheduling, cost control, and procurement teamsParticipate in project meetings and provide contractual input on key decisionsReporting & DocumentationMaintain accurate contract files, correspondence, and registers (changes, claims, RFIs, notices)Ensure administrators are tracking key contractual dates, milestones, and notice requirementsReview contract status reports for management and project leadership Work ConditionsField-office and office-based role on an active rail construction siteMay require travel between job sites, depots, and client officesRequired Skills and CompetenciesRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in construction management, Law, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business, or related field5+ years of contract management experience on major infrastructure or rail construction projectsStrong knowledge of construction contractsUnderstanding of rail project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CM/GC, PPP)Experience administering change orders, claims, and dispute resolution processesPreferred QualificationsExperience on rail, transit, or transportation infrastructure projectsFamiliarity with government-funded or public-sector rail projectsProfessional certifications (CCM, CPCM, PMP, MRICS)Key Skills & CompetenciesContract interpretation and negotiationcesThis role offers an annual base salary in the anticipated range of $90,000–$120,000 CAD, with compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.In addition to base salary, this role includes a total rewards package that supports employee well-being, development, and long-term growth, subject to company policies and applicable provincial employment standards, including:Paid vacation and sick leaveGroup benefits and EFAP from your start date, with premiums paid by ACCIONAHealth Spending AccountLearning, development, and internal career opportunitiesRRSP matchingPerformance-based discretionary bonusShare purchase programACCIONA has been given the Top Employer 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 certification in Canada, as well as the Top Employers North America 2022, 2023, 2024 & 2025 seal, which certifies the company's commitment to excellence in human resources management and those who focus on putting their people first through their exceptional HR policies.
