Position Summary

The Safety Supervisor is responsible for supporting the company's safety program across all operations, including highway construction, mining support, shop facilities, and field crews. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, MSHA, DOT, MUTCD, and other regulatory standards through training, auditing, proactive field engagement, and mentoring. This position is one of our core critical roles in promoting a safety culture and driving continuous improvement across the organization.

Position Description

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct OSHA, MSHA, Company, and other safety-related trainings for employees at various job sites and company locations.
• Perform regular safety audits and field inspections, identifying hazards and ensuring adherence to company safety procedures and applicable regulations.
• Monitor the remediation and correction of audit findings, whether identified internally or through external regulatory inspections.
• Provide daily safety support and field oversight for crews operating in highways, mining, shops and any other areas applicable in supporting company interests.
• Asist in preparing and delivering toolbox talks, safety meetings, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) to promote awareness and safe work practices.
• Serve as a resource and a point of contact for field crews with safety concerns and help facilitate immediate response to incidents or near misses.
• Participate in incident investigations, helping prepare reports, and support follow-up actions, including retraining or process improvements.
• Help maintain documentation related to safety audits, training attendance, certifications, and compliance tracking.
• Communicate safety expectations and updates clearly to employees, supervisors, and project managers.

Stay current on federal and state safety regulations, emerging risks, and industry best practices.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; safety-related coursework or certifications strongly preferred.
• 3+ years of field safety experience in construction, mining support, heavy highway, or industrial environments.
• Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and other relevant regulations and safety practices.
• Certified Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) credential required for those with traffic control oversight duties a plus.
• Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead training sessions and speak effectively to crews at all levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with safety management systems is a plus.
• Valid driver's license required; ability to travel to job sites regularly.
• Prior supervisory leadership experience preferred.

Work Environment

• Full-time position with a mix of field and office responsibilities.
• Frequent travel or possible relocation to active job sites, including highway construction zones, mine support locations, and shop yards.
• Must be comfortable working in outdoor environments and around heavy equipment.
• Early start times, occasional night shifts, and overtime may be required depending on project needs and schedules.
