Purdue IT | West Lafayette, IN Purdue IT is seeking a customer-focused Desktop Support Specialist to provide technology support services for faculty and staff across the university. In this role, you will coordinate the installation, upgrade, and support of hardware, software, peripheral devices, and other technologies while helping users make the most of available tools and resources. You will work collaboratively with a team of IT professionals, you will troubleshoot technical issues, support academic, instructional, and research activities, and contribute to the implementation of technology solutions that enhance the Purdue experience. What We're Looking For Associate degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology OR a related field of study Six (6) months of IT desktop support or related IT experience Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience Experience installing and maintaining hardware, software, and peripheral components of PC (Windows) and Macintosh based workstations including operating system, hardware drivers, and common office automation software Skills Required Expansive knowledge of one of the following operating systems (Apple and Microsoft Windows), as well as PC hardware networking Knowledge of: personal computer, network, server and office productivity technologies Knowledge of: computer networking concepts including IP networking and firewalls Capable of providing quality end-user support and training with patience and consideration of others Clear and effective verbal and written communications skills.
