Counsel, Commercial Transactions (Hybrid)

Job Purpose

This position has responsibility for completing assigned legal work for the business of TruStage, focusing primarily on drafting and negotiating commercial transaction documents with strategic vendors and partners. It will develop legal expertise and establish primary responsibility and accountability for identified projects and/or legal work, under the supervision and guidance of a managing attorney.

• Develops and interacts with key outside contacts.
• Participates in cross‑functional teams, committees, task forces and special projects.
• Develops a fundamental understanding of financials and dynamics of the specific TruStage entities/business units to which you provide support.
• Translates legal advice into terms that are business focused.
• Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Job Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree and continuing legal education within areas of specialty and responsibility.
• Authorized to practice law in the State of Wisconsin or applicable jurisdiction.
• Generally, three to five years of legal experience with overall expert (or developing expert) status in corporate law and commercial transactions.
• Effective negotiation, analysis, reasoning, creativity, and judgment skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated ability to present oneself and interact with others in a manner that inspires trust and invites consultation.

• Uses legal training to analyze issues, provide legal advice to the company, complete assignments and resolve issues.
• Demonstrates command of the law and legal framework applicable to assigned subject area(s) and keeps current on legal developments.
• Understands and effectively uses available technology to receive requests for advice, document recommendations, and store records.
• Monitors trends related to innovation and technology in the legal profession and embraces opportunities for improving department operations and delivery of service.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $111,800.00 – $167,700.00. Eligible for an annual incentive bonus plan. Additional benefits available to eligible employees include medical, dental, vision, employee assistance program, life insurance, disability plans, parental leave, paid time off, 401(k), and tuition reimbursement.
