Swiss CNC Turning Machinist II (Citizen/Star)

Job Description Job Description Your day on the Swiss cell You arrive for Swiss 2nd Shift- Shift Differential, review the job router, load a new bar, and bring a Citizen or Star Swiss lathe to life. You dial in offsets, verify tooling, and run first-article checks before letting production flow. Throughout the shift, you own quality, document everything, and keep the machines humming while looking for ways to improve cycle time and throughput. What you’ll tackle Set up and operate Swiss CNC equipment to exacting tolerances per programs, drawings, and work instructions. Handle complex machining on multiple metals where tight tolerances are critical. Swap worn tools, apply minor offsets/adjustments, and keep processes stable. Own operator-level quality using gauges and measurement tools; interpret results and act. Perform daily checks, follow PM schedules, and keep equipment production-ready. Hand-finish parts as needed to meet cosmetic and dimensional requirements. Follow GMP/GDP rigorously, including accurate completion of job routers/cards. Work safely, flag SH&E concerns promptly, and help maintain a safe work area. Hit productivity goals and suggest improvements to boost output and efficiency. Maintain timely, complete records in the job tracking system. Support Continuous Improvement initiatives across the cell. Escalate manufacturing issues to your Team Leader/Supervisor and assist in resolution. Maintain strong 5S standards and shop housekeeping. Tackle additional projects and duties as assigned. Conduct basic visual, dimensional, and functional inspections on incoming materials, in-process components, and finished goods. Follow defined procedures for routine quality checks and sustain traceable inspection records. What you bring High school diploma or GED. 3+ years of CNC machining experience. Preferred: Associate’s/certificate in Tooling & Machining or completion of a machinist apprenticeship. Preferred: Prior production environment experience; GCSE/NVQ Math and English desirable (UK only). Capable of setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC equipment; able to run multiple machines. Strong shop math; confident with measurement and counts. Plans, prioritizes, and organizes effectively under competing deadlines. Follows work instructions precisely; track record of high-quality, on-time runs. Safety-first mindset; meticulous attention to detail and repeatability. Team-oriented, dependable communicator with solid computer skills. Proactive problem identifier who escalates issues appropriately.
