Sr. Cardio Catheterization Technician - Full Time

To learn how to apply for a faculty or staff position using the Career worklet, please review this tip sheet .The Senior Cardio Catheterization Technician performs a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist physicians in performing complex invasive cardiac catheterization procedures and surgeries.Inserts small catheters through a needle into the blood vessels and into the heart so that x-rays, angiograms, and other recordings can be taken to determine the heart's structure and function.Ensures the EKG equipment is in good working order. Monitors the EKG readouts and keeps the doctor apprised of anything considered abnormal. Positions patients and explains procedures.Prepares the patients for the procedure by cleaning, shaving, and anesthetizing the area of insertion.Assists physicians during open-heart surgery and with the insertion of pacemakers or stents.
