Locum MD (Medical Doctor) Podiatry

Position Overview

A well‑established healthcare organization in New Orleans, LA is seeking an experienced Locum Tenens Podiatrist (MD/DO) to provide high‑quality podiatric care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat conditions of the foot, ankle, and lower extremities.
• Perform routine podiatric care, wound care, diabetic foot management, and minor procedures.
• Conduct surgical consultations and perform podiatric surgeries (if required by facility).
• Manage acute and chronic podiatric conditions and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including primary care, orthopedics, vascular surgery, and wound care specialists.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to facility protocols and regulatory standards.
• Provide patient education focused on prevention, mobility, and long‑term foot health.

Assignment Details

• Schedule: 8a-5p, 1-2 days per week
• Case Types: Routine diabetic screenings and debridement, treatment of chronic wounds, minor outpatient nail surgeries, fittings, comprehensive foot exams, etc.
• EMR: Athena
• Must be board-certified
• Paid travel & expenses

Qualifications

• MD or DO with board certification or board eligibility in Podiatric Medicine & Surgery
• Active Louisiana medical license (or ability to obtain)
• Current DEA registration
• Experience in wound care or podiatric surgery preferred
• Strong diagnostic, procedural, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
