Specialist, Technology Delivery
$90k - $110kPearson
We are seeking a talented Specialist, Technology Delivery to oversee the successful execution of product and project deliverables for our customers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of leadership, accountability, product development, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills. In addition to delivery execution, this role is responsible for coaching Agile teams toward higher levels of effectiveness, fostering psychologically safe team environments, and driving continuous improvement through data-informed decision making. The Specialist, Technology Delivery will lead a development team and collaborate closely with other teams to ensure delivery of products on time and within budget and scope. This role plays a critical part in representing and advocating for the Agile team at the program level, balancing stakeholder needs with team sustainability and delivery health. This role is vital to fostering strong relationships, driving positive change, and enabling teams to deliver high-quality, customer-centric outcomes. Core Responsibilities Deeply understand the context of capabilities and epics (created by Product Management) in order to effectively break down, create, and refine user stories with development team members, including clearly articulating functional and non-functional requirements and user story acceptance criteria. Support teams in facilitating Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and sprint reviews. Coach Agile teams beyond ceremony facilitation by improving team maturity, enabling self-management, and guiding teams toward ownership of outcomes. Lead and oversee the successful delivery of products, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and meet defined quality standards and requirements. Lead and inspire project teams, fostering a collaborative, results-driven culture. Promote effective and transparent communication across teams and stakeholders. Cultivate a psychologically safe team environment where all voices are heard and healthy conflict is managed constructively. Maintain a strong pulse on team health, morale, and engagement, proactively addressing challenges that impact performance. Establish and sustain a culture of continuous improvement (kaizen), leveraging retrospectives, experimentation, and feedback loops. Promote learning, capability building, and cross-functional collaboration within and across teams. Encourage teams to adopt a mindset of ongoing growth, adaptability, and performance optimization. Prioritize commitments with development teams while incorporating product feedback to maximize customer value. Ensure prioritization decisions optimize value delivery, focusing on outcomes rather than output. Partner with Product Management to align team execution with product vision and business goals. Effectively communicate work in progress, outcomes, and delivery status to stakeholders, accommodating and negotiating needs while maintaining alignment with organizational priorities. Act as the primary advocate for the Agile team, representing team needs, constraints, and trade-offs to stakeholders and leadership. Protect team focus by managing external demands and minimizing unnecessary disruptions. Identify and manage dependencies collaboratively across teams. Proactively coordinate with internal and external teams to optimize end-to-end delivery flow. Ensure alignment between team-level execution and broader program objectives. Rapidly identify, communicate, and escalate risks and impediments with appropriate urgency. Continuously assess risks by evaluating probability, impact, and dependencies. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and execute effective risk mitigation strategies through to resolution. Track and socialize team performance goals and metrics, including velocity and capacity. Analyze delivery metrics such as flow efficiency, cycle time, and throughput to identify systemic issues. Use data to inform planning, forecasting, and continuous improvement efforts. Facilitate the creation, maintenance, and accountability of team ways of working. Maintain proper tool hygiene for team artifacts, including user stories, backlogs, dashboards, and reporting tools. Continuously improve team and departmental delivery practices. Develop a strong understanding of the team's technical work and systems to effectively guide delivery decisions and facilitate meaningful discussions. Act as a translator between technical and non-technical stakeholders when necessary. Contribute to the Delivery Management community of practice by sharing knowledge, mentoring peers, and promoting cross-team alignment. Support consistency and excellence in delivery management practices across the organization. Ensure delivery outcomes align with budget expectations and organizational priorities. Maintain awareness of delivery-related financial considerations, including labor allocation where applicable. Leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance team productivity, decision-making, and delivery outcomes. Continuously explore and apply emerging AI capabilities to improve delivery efficiency, reduce manual overhead, and enable more data-informed insights across the team. Champion a customer-centric mindset by ensuring team decisions and priorities are consistently aligned to delivering meaningful customer value and solving real user problems. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or 3 to 5 years of relevant experience (e.g., delivery manager, scrum master, project manager, product owner) or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Experience collaborating with or managing fully remote teams. Proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions. Experience leading teams without formal authority and fostering accountability. Strong customer-centric mindset with the ability to clearly communicate requirements and scope. Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Passion for education and experience working in an educational or product-driven environment. Proficiency in Agile and other development or project management frameworks. Experience coaching Agile teams and improving team maturity beyond basic facilitation. Experience fostering psychologically safe, high-performing team environments. Strong understanding of delivery metrics and experience using data to drive continuous improvement. Ability to manage the full lifecycle of delivery risks, from identification through resolution. Experience working across teams to manage dependencies and optimize system-level delivery outcomes. Experience working with software development teams and Agile SDLC processes.
