The Role We're looking for a Software Engineer to ship the product features and infrastructure that make Scanner feel effortless to operate. You'll build the tools that let customers and their AI agents run investigations across years of security logs, the ingestion pipelines that pull massive log streams from cloud providers and SaaS platforms into Scanner, and the outbound integrations that plug Scanner into the workflows users care about. The systems you build need to operate at scale and handle hundreds of terabytes to petabytes of log data per day. A strong candidate will have: A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software development, with an emphasis on backend technologies. Proficiency in at least one backend language like Rust, Go, C/C++, Java, or Swift, and willingness to ramp into Rust (we’ll get you productive within a month). General familiarity with databases, database internals, and data pipelines/warehouses. A craft‑first stance on AI coding tools. You use them when they accelerate delivery, and you own every line of code you commit. Comfort working in a fast‑paced and low process environment. We use Rust throughout the backend, giving us extremely fast performance with strong security guarantees. Our frontend is written using Svelte and TypeScript. Our query system leverages highly burstable compute provided by serverless components like Amazon Lambdas. We use S3 to store logs at scale and MySQL to store metadata. Our log ingestion pipeline runs in Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS). We use infrastructure‑as‑code tools like Pulumi to manage our deployments and cloud infrastructure.
