The person holding this position is delegated the responsibility for carrying out the assigned duties and responsibilities in accordance with current existing federal and state regulations and established company policies and procedures.Job Duties:Administer oral medications, including scheduled medicationsAdminister PRN medications, only after authorization of nurse, then nurse will assess and document effectivenessAdminister inhalersAdminister nebulizer treatments, only if nurse completes lung assessment before and after and documents findingsAdminister topical and rectal ointmentsAdminister nasal sprays and dropsAdminister eye ointments and dropsAdminister ear ointments and dropsAdminister non-invasive treatmentsObserve residents for drug reactions and report any concerns to the nurse immediatelyMonitor residents' vital signsCalculate medication dosages and stock the medication cartDocument what medications were given for the day on the medication administrator record (MAR) chartReport to the nurse on duty general and specific information pertaining to the response of the residents to their medications or treatments and any other pertinent or appropriate informationReport to the nurse on duty for instructions before administering any PRN medicationAudit documentation to assure accurate, complete, and timely recording of medications and treatmentsSafely lift, move, and transfer residents as requiredAttend all mandatory meetings and in-servicesParticipate in a med pass audit at any timeOther duties as assigned by Director of Nursing or Nurse on dutyKnowledge/Skills & Abilities:Adheres to and interprets resident rights and personnel policiesKnowledge of federal and state regulationsUnderstands special needs and limitations of elderlyRecognizes and identifies problems and refer to others if necessaryAbility to communicate with the resident, family, staff, and communityMaintains the confidentiality of resident information and honor his/her personal and property rightsResponds to the needs of the facility, residents, and families in a timely and appropriate mannerMust function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residentsMust have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level in which they are currently functioningAddresses resident and family satisfaction issues immediately by reporting them to the Supervisor in a professional mannerMust be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English languageMust be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and/or holidaysEducation/Experience:Must have current, unencumbered QMA Certification.#123
