Job TitleControls EngineerJob DescriptionEssential Functions:Create, modify and maintain programs for machines, robotics, 3rd party integration, and complete systems.Assist Checkout Technicians with factory testingCreate documentation to share knowledge with other Controls Engineers as well as Checkout and Service TechniciansReview and troubleshoot customer field issues and recommend viable solutions for quick resolution.Work on projects to improve speed, capacity, reliability, functionality, and ease of operationAssist Service Department in troubleshooting machines, either in the field via telephone or on-site at the customer's facilityEnsure that programs follow a standardized and structured format and notation for ease of understanding by co-workers and customers.Perform other tasks or duties as assignedEducation and Experience:Four-year degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) or two-year degree in Engineering (or equivalent and 3 years of related experience in the field of automation and robotics)Familiarity with motion control, servo controls, HMI, and packaging equipmentAB PLC experience preferredFanuc Robot experience preferredAutoCAD Electrical experience preferred3D modeling experience preferredTechnical Skills and Abilities:Able to read, understand, analyze and problem solve electrical schematics and engineering related software programs.Able to use standard computer programs for work processing including Microsoft Office products.Able to tutor and/or lead others on designs and projects.Must exhibit a high level of inquisitiveness, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.Able to adapt to a fast-paced environment.Interpersonal Communication:Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and non-verbally) to individuals and groups, internally and externally, to exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately.Works well with a variety of people and personalities, and with other Delkor departments.Works collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner.Work Ethic:Self-motivated and able to work independently and accurately with minimal supervision.Takes ownership of his or her area(s) of responsibility.Understands the need to work productively, making good use of his or her time.Strong leadership skills including the ability to independently problem solve engineering issues.Innovative in developing more efficient and effective methods of completing assigned tasks.Well organized with a strong aptitude for details.Able to maintain a positive work environment, even when encountering challenging situations.Physical Requirements:Sit at a desk or in meetings for extended periods of time that often include extensive time on a computer.Stand and walk for a portion of the day to interact with other employees.See and judge distances and space relationships to successfully complete detailed activities to fine tolerances, including reading engineering schematics, spreadsheets and other documents.Possess arm and hand mobility and strength to lift, bend, hold, reach, carry, push and pull packages, supplies, and the like used by the Engineering Department and to support the production floor.Work Environment:Seventy to eighty percent (70-80%) of the work is performed in an office setting, carrying out detail work sitting at a desk and working on the computer, or working at an office table.Twenty to thirty percent (20-30%) of the work is performed on an assembly floor or at customer sites with exposure to tools, dirt, dust, chemicals, metals and plastics, varying temperatures, construction noises and odors from production processes.The estimated amount of time spent traveling to customer sites is ten percent (10%).Tools and Equipment:Use general office equipment such as computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copiers, e-mail, calculator and other such equipment.Use basic hand tools including as wrenches, pliers, screwdriver, voltmeter, etc.Salary Range:The salary range for this position is $95,000 - $110,000 per year.
