Registered Nurse (RN) | Surgery

Location and Work Schedule Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, Regular worker type. Work shift starts 7:15 am with a 6th weekend/holiday/call rotation and 72 hours/2 weeks. Pay and Incentives Hourly pay range $32.50–$48.50 (actual rate depends on experience) Possible $10,000 sign‑on bonus Student Loan Repayment Program: up to $10,000 (maximum $167/month from Avera) Responsibilities Deliver nursing care by developing nursing diagnoses, establishing nursing care objectives, defining nursing interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. Review physician prescriptions and communicate the nursing care plan and pertinent information to other health‑care team members. Coordinate with other health‑care providers and provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. Obtain medical histories, examine patients, document patient physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors. Develop nursing diagnoses, establish nursing care objectives, and define nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables. Instruct patients, families, and friends to understand conditions, medications, and self‑care skills, answer questions, and provide information and resources. Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, reviewing patient records, noting changing conditions and needs, re‑evaluating care objectives, and modifying nursing care plans. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment by adhering to infection‑control policies, medication administration procedures, controlled‑substance regulations, organization standards, and legal regulations. Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records. Keep patient‑care equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. Keep patient‑care supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications The candidate must be able to work the specified hours and perform all essential job functions satisfactorily. Must have visual acuity adequate to perform position duties. Required Education and Licensure Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice – active license upon hire. Preferred Experience 1–3 years of experience working in a clinical environment.
