King County Veteran Reentry Program Coordinator (PPM I)

The division's work also includes efforts to strengthen connections within and improve access to the human services system. ASD manages and provides equity-focused stewardship of revenue from the Veterans, Seniors, and Human Services Levy (VSHSL), the RCW 73.08 veterans relief fund and King County general fund-funded human services programs. ASD also supports the King County VSHSL Advisory Board, the King County Veterans Advisory Board, and the King County Women's Advisory Board. King County is an active partner in King County's Area Agency on Aging. This recruitment will be used to fill 3 vacancies for a King County Veteran Reentry Program Coordinator (Project/Program Manager I) : Two (2) Career Services One (1) Special Duty Assignement/Term Limited Temporary These positions will work collaboratively with the King County Veterans Program, DAJD, and VA partners to support veterans involved in the criminal legal system transitioning from incarceration. WORK SCHEDULE/CONDITIONS: This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) Career Service positions and one (1) Special Duty Assignment/Term Limited Temporary (3yr; subject to change depending on operational need). This position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. This position meets the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible with supervisory pre‑approval. This position is represented by PROTEC17-Non‑Sups Staff. MISSION CRITICAL POSITION STATUS: This position has been designated Non‑Mission Critical. TELEWORKING REQUIREMENT: DCHS works in a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is TUKWILA at 645 Andover Park West, Tukwila, WA 98188. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remote. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County‑issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Provide outreach, engagement, and reentry support/care coordination for veterans who are incarcerated in King Countycorrectional facilitiesand/or recently released to King County. Conduct reentry needs assessments, develop reentry plans, and coordinate services with community resources. Assistclients in securing linkages to behavioral and primary healthcare; housing;veteransbenefits and/or other entitlements and publicly funded benefits; educational and vocational resources; and other basic needs. Assistclients with accessing needed services by setting up and attending appointments with clients if needed to provide continuity of care. Collaborate with criminal legal partners to understand the needs of incarcerated veterans andfacilitatereentry/resource groups at King Countycorrectional facilities(in coordination with community partners whenappropriate)to address identified needs. Serve as liaison to King County Veterans Program and work collaboratively with the following partners in order to identify and provide reentry support services to King County veterans with criminal legal system involvement: VA Puget Sound; WA Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA); ETS REACH; King County Jail Health Services; King County Therapeutic Courts; King County Department of Public Defense (DPD); King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office (PAO); and partner correctional facilities, such as the King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention (DAJD) and Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC). Gather data andidentifytrends that exist in the incarcerated veteran population andassistin analysis for program development and continuous quality improvement. Identifygaps and barriers in available community resources and advocate for systemic changes. Assistin program planning, data submission, and report drafting. Collaborate with criminal legal/correctional facilitypartners on reporting needs as requested. Maintain a broad working knowledge of veteran resources in King County and coordinate services, including VSHSL-funded programs. Provide information about relevant community-based resources to veterans with criminal legal involvement, their families, and criminal legal partners. Network with otherjurisdictionsto coordinate and share information. Respond to inquiries about the program, procedures, processes, or relevant regulations and laws. Local travel on behalf of the agency is a job requirement. Perform other duties as assigned. Must either have an existing security clearance or be able to obtain a security clearance within 6 months of hire, and be able to pass a background check to allow secure access to King County correctional facilities. Knowledge of and experience working with veteran or military services and resources, especially in King County or the Puget Sound region, including King County Veterans Program, VSHSL-funded partners, and the WA state and federal VA. Demonstrated ability to work independently, as a team lead, and as a team member. Skill in working as an effective team member. Knowledge of health and social issuesimpactingtarget population and community well‑being. Basic quantitative skills. Analytical and problem‑solving skills. Skills in gathering,manipulating, and using data. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook email, and web‑based applications. Skill in oral and written communication. Experience (1+ years of professional‑level or equivalent) providing direct client services related to the social service field or outreach programs.
