Accounting ManagerThe Opportunity Accounting Manager at a growth-oriented downstream energy company Serve as the finance and accounting leader for the Montana Refinery & Logistics site, with full accountability for financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations. Combines strategic controller responsibilities with hands-on leadership of day-to-day accounting execution, ensuring accurate financial statements, strong governance, and effective support of refinery operations. Candidates with greater qualifications may be considered at the Sr. Manager level. Reporting to the Director of Operations Accounting, this role leads the refinery accounting team, partners closely with operations and corporate finance, and serves as the primary point of accountability for accounting policy application, audits, and financial integrity at the site.Key activities include:Own full accountability for refinery financial statements, close integrity, and compliance with GAAP, company policies, and regulatory requirementsServe as the primary finance leader for the Montana Refinery & Logistics site, partnering with refinery & logistics leadership and corporate financeInterpret and apply accounting policies; make final determinations on complex or high-risk accounting mattersOwn relationships with internal and external auditors and regulatory bodies as related to refinery and logistics accountingLead day-to-day refinery accounting operations including general ledger, inventory, fixed assets, cost accounting, and operational accountingEnsure timely and accurate monthly close, reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting. Maintain strong internal controls and SOX-compliant processesIdentify, investigate, and resolve accounting issues; ensure timely escalation and resolution of risksLead, mentor, and develop accounting staffSet priorities, manage workload, and ensure adequate coverage during close and peak operational periodsDrive accountability, consistency, and continuous improvement across the accounting organizationProvide performance management, coaching, and development planning for team membersEvaluate, improve, and standardize accounting processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and control effectivenessPartner with Operations, Logistics, Procurement, Maintenance, and IT to support accurate accounting and operational decision-makingSupport system enhancements and process changes, including ERP initiativesContribute to enterprise initiatives aimed at standardization, integration, and best practices across Par PacificNote: This description is intended to give you a general overview of the position.
