You’ve led the maintenance team, troubleshot propulsion casualties, and kept equipment ready for operations. Put that experience to work with Epsilon Systems Solutions, Inc., supporting the Navy’s mission in Imperial Beach, San Diego.

We are seeking an experienced marine mechanic and technical leader to support patrol boat propulsion and power generation systems. Transitioning or former Navy Chief Enginemen (ENCs) are especially encouraged to apply , along with marine technicians and industry professionals with experience maintaining and repairing Cummins diesel engines, Hamilton waterjets, Twin Disc marine gear transmissions, and Westerbeke generators.

As the Marine Mechanic–Lead Level V Technician, you will serve as the primary point of contact with the Government, lead maintenance personnel, coordinate program requirements, and make decisions within your assigned program authority. This role combines hands-on troubleshooting with the leadership needed to keep maintenance on track and boats mission-ready.

Your Technical Experience Matters

We are particularly interested in candidates with hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, or inspection experience involving:

• Cummins diesel engines
• Hamilton HJ292 waterjets
• Hamilton HM651 waterjets
• Twin Disc marine gear transmissions
• Westerbeke 33 kW EDE D-NET generators

What You Will Do

• Serve as the primary Government point of contact for program coordination and problem resolution.
• Coordinate program requirements, subcontractors, and employees, and ensure contract deliverables are accurate and submitted on time.
• Direct maintenance personnel, evaluate complex technical problems, and develop effective repair solutions.
• Troubleshoot marine propulsion and power generation systems to identify failures at the component level.
• Perform maintenance, repairs, testing, checkout, and material condition assessments in accordance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) technical specifications.
• Interpret schematics, diagrams, layouts, defined work plans, and written or verbal technical instructions.
• Perform boat lay-ups, start-ups, and associated maintenance checks for the mid-level storage program.
• Provide technical support for marine mechanical systems, subsystems, and components.
• Prepare written maintenance reports and completed-action documentation.
• Maintain shop equipment and perform additional duties supporting maintenance and repair.
• Support assignments within the continental United States (CONUS) and overseas (OCONUS), as required.

Required Qualifications

• Ten (10) years of experience in marine propulsion and/or power generation operations, maintenance, repair, or inspections.
• At least five (5) of those ten years must involve specialized marine propulsion or power generation maintenance, repair, or inspection experience at the engineer, technician, planner, designer, foreman, or quality assurance level, focused on the applicable systems.
• Knowledge of the proper use of diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to direct personnel and coordinate technical work.
• Strong understanding of technical requirements and the ability to identify equipment problems and develop solutions.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Effective organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a team and adapt to changing maintenance requirements.
• Ability to travel overseas when required.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a Secret security clearance.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. passport.

Education Substitution

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical or marine engineering may qualify for an experience substitution, subject to review.

Preferred Qualifications

• Transitioning or former Navy Chief Engineman (ENC) , or comparable military or civilian marine maintenance leadership experience.
• Prior military expeditionary equipment maintenance experience.
• Completion of the Cummins INSITE Familiarization course , with INSITE qualification and Tier 3 QSB/QSC engine qualifications; and/or
• Certification to work on Mercury Optimax and Verado outboard engines , including completion of Intro to CDS and Verado/Optimax I and II qualifications.

In your resume, identify the boats, craft, or vessels you supported and the engines, waterjets, marine gears, and generators you maintained. Highlight examples of troubleshooting casualties, leading repair teams, conducting inspections, and returning equipment to service.

Transitioning Sailors should include relevant Navy schools, NECs, technical qualifications, and engineering leadership assignments. Industry applicants should identify applicable equipment models, manufacturer certifications, and marine maintenance supervisory experience.

• Must be able to lift, carry, and transport heavy equipment and boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in a field environment for extended periods, including locations with extreme heat and humidity, such as Guam, Djibouti, and Bahrain.
• Ability to work in a maintenance shop environment.
• Able to perform duties that may involve high heat, humidity, noise, and dirty conditions.
• Travel may be required within and outside the continental United States.
• Work may require bending, stooping, and lifting in environments with low and high temperatures.
