Patient Financial Counselor

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am-5pm Job Summary And Qualifications As a Financial Counselor, you will be responsible for reviewing the Financial Clearance Worklist daily and visiting in‑house patients; collecting estimated patient liability amounts; explaining all financial information and responsibilities; and working closely with outside agencies to ensure patient coverage. What you will do in this role Follow AIDET guidelines in all interactions with the patient Demonstrate excellent customer service In conjunction with the Medicaid Eligibility Staff visit all uninsured patients in‑house Provide estimates to patients and/or physicians as requested Generate insurance verification and pre‑certification reports daily and follow up with case management and insurance verification departments as appropriate Follow all guidelines set forth in the Cash Handling policy Utilize eligibility systems, online websites or phone calls to determine insurance benefits and pre‑certification requirements Assist patients with payment arrangements and, in coordination with the Medicaid Eligibility Staff, assist patients with financial applications Contact patient employer, if necessary, for verification of employment, premium status, and addition of dependents to policies Escalate any concerns as needed to the Patient Access Manager/Supervisor Enter pertinent insurance information into the HIS system (e.g., Meditech) Enter appropriate notes for all patient encounters Maintain a professional image and implement excellent customer service to customers Complete financial analysis and collect estimated patient liabilities Follow up with patients for necessary signatures if they were incomplete at the time of hospitalization What qualifications you will need High school diploma or GED preferred 1 year of related experience required Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Benefits Comprehensive benefits for medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, behavioral health and telemedicine services Well‑being support, including free counseling and referral services Time away from work programs for paid time off, paid family leave, long‑ and short‑term disability coverage and leaves of absence Savings and retirement resources, including a 401(k) plan with a 100% match on 3% to 9% of pay (based on years of service), Employee Stock Purchase Plan, flexible spending accounts, preferred banking partnerships, retirement readiness tools, rollover support, and financial well‑being counseling Education support through tuition assistance, student loan assistance, certification support, dependent scholarships and a partnership with Galen College of Nursing Additional benefits for fertility and family building, adoption assistance, life insurance, supplemental health protection plans, auto and home insurance, legal counseling, identity theft protection and consumer discounts Learn More About Employee Benefits Note: Eligibility for benefits may vary by location.
