Lead Systems Software Solutions Specialist - Telework Hybrid

Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento.

Under the direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist II will perform duties related to Software Engineering, System Engineering, and Information Security Engineering, including but not limited to: Software Architecture, Software Development, Software Integration, Data Administration, Enterprise Architecture, Identity Management, System Administration, System Integration, Security Compliance and Security Operations . The Lead Systems Software Solutions Specialist performs a variety of tasks requiring innovative problem-solving within a wide range of technologies in support of the Department's critical 24x7 infrastructure

Working Conditions

Part-time telework available. Telework requires California residency. This position offers hybrid telework opportunities; however, telework arrangements are subject to change at any time based on State & departmental operational needs. Employees may be required to report to the office as necessary.

This position may be required to work on weekends and off shift hours. Telework available but may change due to the governor's directive to work in the office four days a week. Telework requires California residency. This position is eligible for telework; however, this position may be required to occasionally report to the designated office location in DMV headquarters at 2415 First Avenue, Sacramento, California, 95818. Travel expenses related to reporting to the designated office is the employee's own responsibility and is not eligible for reimbursement.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or closely related field • Knowledge and experience in COBOL programming, DB2, JCL, CICS and Changeman • Knowledge of IBM Mainframe Systems • Knowledge and experience in Assembler is a plus. • Knowledge and experience in IBM MQ is a plus. • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills • Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Strong written and verbal technical and non-technical communication skills. • Excellent collaboration skills • Experience gathering business and system requirements and creating technical documentation for large IT projects.
