Overview We are known for our leading surgical services, state-of-the-art, minimally-invasive procedures and robotics. A surgical tech or SPD role is a position to harness knowledge, support and potential surrounding you. As a Surgical Tech/Scrub Tech You Will Work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN. Assist the surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying sterile setup of instruments, equipment and supplies, and passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed. Assist in preparing and moving patients and sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment and rooms. Previous OR experience required – 1 year minimum. Day To Day Duties Scrub on all cases. Primarily, GEN, Urology, Ortho (Totals/ Trauma), Spine, Neuro, Plastics, Oncology, Robotics (DaVinci XI) and Trauma. Penrose specializes in Heart, Vascular surgeries with dedicated service teams for hearts and Vascular only. Associates are cross trained for all other services. Giving breaks and/or providing additional supplies and sterile instruments as needed during operations. Assisting with room turnover and restocking for next day’s cases. Maintain sterile field during procedures. Handing instruments to surgeons, anticipating surgeon’s needs. Maintaining and updating preference cards. 16 OR Suites Approx. 600+ cases per month Schedule PRN – variable per surgical volume and current unit needs. Per policy PRN requires a minimum availability for 5 shifts in a 6 week schedule block and 2 holidays per year. Weekend availability required. Call No call required but extra shifts may be available to pick up. 30 min call back radius required if taking a call shift. Qualifications In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following: Basic computer skills required. One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred. Experience in a specialty field preferred. HS Diploma/GED required. Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program required. BLS from the American Heart Association required. Current registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a surgical technologist for associates working in Colorado. A person performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another Colorado license, certification, or registration does not need to register as a Surgical Tech. Certification in Surgical Technology from NBSTSA or CST from NCCT required. Physical Requirements: Medium Work - Exert up to 50lbs occasionally, up to 20lbs frequently, and up to 10lbs constantly.
