RN – Med/Surg (Telemetry)

Location: Syracuse, NY
Duration: 16 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift | 12 Hours/Day

Schedule: Every other weekend and some holidays required Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg (Telemetry) to provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in an acute-care hospital setting. The RN will be responsible for patient assessments, telemetry monitoring, IV initiation, laboratory specimen collection, and a broad range of clinical nursing duties.

The ideal candidate should have recent acute-care experience and be comfortable caring for patients in a high-acuity hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to adult patients in acute Med/Surg units.
• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and provide a wide range of patient-care services.
• Monitor telemetry and recognize and interpret cardiac rhythms.
• Start IVs and draw laboratory specimens.
• Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes to the appropriate healthcare team.
• Provide safe, effective, and compassionate patient care.
• Work every other weekend and some holidays as required.
• Provide care in a Level I or Level II trauma hospital environment.
• Maintain strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Follow required health clearance, drug screening, and background check procedures.

Requirements

• Current New York State RN registration/license .
• Current BLS certification with ability to recertify.
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent acute-care experience within the past 2 years .
• 2 years of nursing experience required.
• Experience working in a hospital of equal or greater size and acuity, or in a trauma center.
• Level I trauma hospital experience highly preferred.
• EPIC EMR experience highly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry/cardiac rhythms.
• Demonstrated ability to start IVs.
• Demonstrated ability to draw labs.
• Strong clinical, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute-care environment.
