Sr Payroll Accountant

:

The Senior Payroll Accountant - Community is primarily responsible for processing multi state tax reporting/filing for community payrolls. Assist with systems support in regards to the payroll/time keeping systems. Handle onboarding new communities and validating system integrity. Assist management with other payroll related processing/reporting.

The Role:

• Responsible for the processing weekly tax payments and filings for bi-weekly community payrolls.
• Maintain federal, state, and local payroll tax records. Report and file federal, state, and local taxes. Assist in reconciling tax accounts, annual reports, and preparing annual W- 2s.
• Files regulatory reports for community payroll, including state new hire reports and quarterly unemployment reports.
• Assists with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes. Distributes reports for community payrolls.
• Understand and administer company policies in regards to time off and time clock payroll related items while adhering the federal, state, and local regulations.
• Works with IT support on systems issues.
• Works with HR on employee related issues.
• Provides management, employees, and HR with information as requested.
• Provide backup assistance to entire payroll team as needed.
Performs special projects as assigned.

Experience:

• Associate degree in accounting.
3 + years of payroll experience in a complex multi-state organization.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Knowledge of payroll laws and tax reporting regulations required.
• Experience with Oracle HCM Cloud system.
• Experience with time keeping systems.
• Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, and 10-key skills.
• Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks to meet all deadlines.
• Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality with sensitive information.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong customer service skills.
• Strong problem solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work with little supervision, taking initiative in tasks that need to be done and using good judgment in making routine decisions.
