PACU - Clinical Nurse

Barnes‑Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment. The campus features 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms, and four intensive care unit rooms in a park‑like setting connected to Millennium Park. The Perioperative Services staff provide excellent surgical care by partnering with a dedicated team of physicians and health care professionals, combining the resources of the BJC HealthCare System and Washington University Medical School. Overview Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Additional Preferred Requirements Must have ACLS certification ICU or PACU experience preferred Responsibilities Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance and professional development. Develops, implements, and documents individualized plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient/family or caregiver, ensuring communication across the continuum of care. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient preferences, barriers to involvement, values, and cultural needs. Maintains constant alertness and works safely in a safety‑sensitive position.
