Employment Coordinator for Students with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Posting Number: PG194733EP Internal Recruitment: No Job Location: Raleigh, NC Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 5 pm Salary: $70,000 Department: IPSE About Elevate: Elevate is a university‑wide initiative designed for North Carolina residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The program offers educational credentials such as certificates and focuses on five pillars of success: academics, employment, personal development, independent living, and social engagement. Key Responsibilities Coordinated internships and employment opportunities for IDD students, aligning placements with their person‑centered plans. Developed personalized employment goals that match students’ academic, social, and professional aspirations. Provided training and ongoing technical assistance to employers, helping create accessible work environments. Advocated for students’ workplace rights, monitored progress, and adjusted plans as needed for success. Designed and facilitated workshops on workplace readiness, self‑advocacy, and professional development. Built partnerships with local businesses and organizations to expand internship and employment possibilities. Other Responsibilities Performed additional duties as assigned to meet evolving organizational priorities. Minimum Education and Experience Post‑baccalaureate credentials, or a bachelor’s degree with equivalent professional training and experience. Other Required Qualifications Knowledge of effective career preparation and employment strategies for individuals with disabilities. Understanding of strategies that promote self‑determination skills. Familiarity with instructional and support strategies for IDD individuals. Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and advocacy skills. Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with students, families, employers, faculty, staff, and community partners. Capability to coordinate multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Education, Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation, or a related field.
