Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Saint Stephen the Martyr Parish, a vibrant and growing Catholic community of approximately 4,000 households in Omaha, Nebraska, is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Director of Evangelization. This full-time leadership position is an opportunity to help shape and advance the parish’s vision of forming intentional disciples of Jesus Christ.

The Director of Evangelization supports, coordinates, and advances the parish’s mission to proclaim the Gospel and form missionary disciples. This role provides strategic leadership for evangelization, adult faith formation, and discipleship initiatives, fostering a parish culture centered on encounter with Jesus Christ, ongoing conversion, and active participation in the life of the Church.

Working closely with parish and school leadership, the Director ensures alignment across ministries and age groups, guiding the parish’s Clear Path of Discipleship—a process designed to lead individuals from initial encounter to mature, missionary faith.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive parish evangelization strategy
- Coordinate and lead adult faith formation and discipleship initiatives
- Collaborate with parish ministries and school leaders to ensure unified vision and continuity across all age groups
- Support and strengthen Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), small faith-sharing groups, Bible studies, retreats, and ongoing formation programs
- Oversee and enhance marriage and baptism preparation processes
- Lead parish-wide welcoming, outreach, and evangelization efforts
- Recruit, train, and support volunteer leaders, fostering a culture of shared leadership

Education and Experience
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with a deep and active faith
- Bachelor’s degree required (theology, ministry, or related field preferred); Master’s degree strongly desired
- 3–5 years of experience in parish ministry, evangelization, or faith formation
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and ministries
