Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Plant Engineering Services Leader to oversee plant engineering, maintenance, facilities, utilities, and environmental programs. This position is responsible for maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient operations while minimizing equipment downtime and controlling labor, material, and utility costs.

The successful candidate will lead and develop the Engineering Services team, coordinate improvement projects, manage regulatory compliance, and work closely with plant leadership and other departments to support production goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the plant engineering and maintenance functions, including staffing, training, employee development, and performance.
• Establish effective preventive maintenance and repair procedures to minimize production downtime.
• Oversee the condition, operation, installation, and relocation of production equipment, service equipment, buildings, utilities, grounds, and fire-protection systems.
• Plan facility improvements and provide recommendations regarding equipment purchases, repairs, utility capacity, and operating costs.
• Prepare project cost estimates and oversee work performed by contractors and outside service providers.
• Monitor departmental labor, materials, fuel, power, and water usage to support efficient and cost-effective operations.
• Promote safe work practices and ensure equipment and departmental activities meet applicable safety requirements.
• Provide technical and mechanical support to production and other plant departments.
• Maintain adequate training and backup coverage for key departmental positions.
• Identify and correct quality-system issues within the department’s area of responsibility.
• Maintain positive working relationships with employees, department leaders, regulatory agencies, emergency services, insurance representatives, and outside contractors.

Environmental Responsibilities

• Lead the facility’s environmental management system and support continued ISO 14001 compliance.
• Maintain required environmental permits, records, reports, procedures, and renewal schedules.
• Ensure compliance with requirements involving air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, solid waste, hazardous waste, used oil, asbestos, spill response, chemical reporting, and natural-resource conservation.
• Monitor environmental performance, investigate concerns, and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate internal and external environmental audits and ensure findings are addressed promptly.
• Train employees on applicable environmental procedures, waste-handling practices, and spill-response requirements.
• Develop and support programs that reduce waste, emissions, resource consumption, and environmental risk.

Qualifications and Skills

• Must have a 4-year technical degree with at least 3 years' experience as Engineering and or Maintenance Manager
• Strong knowledge of plant engineering, industrial maintenance, facilities, utilities, and equipment reliability.
• Demonstrated leadership, team-development, project-management, and problem-solving abilities.
• Working knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting, reporting, and compliance programs.
• Ability to manage budgets, evaluate costs, prioritize work, and coordinate multiple projects.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, leadership, contractors, and regulatory representatives.
