Part-time Payroll Specialist

Job Title: Payroll Specialist (Part - Time Contract)
Location: Chicago, IL
Pay: $24-26/hour, based on experience
Schedule: Hybrid (1 day onsite), 27 - 30 hours a week
Employment Type: Temporary until the end of the year

Our client is seeking an experienced part-time Payroll Specialist to support biweekly payroll processing and employee payroll administration. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented payroll professional with strong UKG experience who enjoys working in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process biweekly payroll for approximately 300 employees across multiple pay groups.
• Manage off-cycle payroll processing as needed.
• Review and validate timecards, earnings, deductions, and payroll adjustments.
• Maintain employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, and employee changes.
• Audit payroll data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile payroll results and verify final payroll output.
• Generate payroll reports for internal stakeholders.
• Respond to employee payroll and timekeeping inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with payroll controls, policies, and confidentiality requirements.
• Partner with HR and payroll teams to maintain data integrity between HRIS and payroll systems.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of UKG Pro Payroll experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Experience working with payroll deadlines and confidential employee data
