Overview Starting Date: Immediately To maintain the financial records of the District in strict compliance with TEA’S Financial Accounting and Reporting Resource Guide and generally accepted accounting procedures. Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree required, accounting coursework preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of computerized accounting systems Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, evaluate accounting problems, develop data, and recommend improved procedures Ability to use software to develop accounting reports, spreadsheets, and databases Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Experience: Three (3) years experience in public fund accounting preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties Accounting Assist Director of Budget with compiling and reviewing annual budgets. Assist with MAC and SHARS reporting. Assist Controller in maintaining a complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions of the District. Manage the fixed asset system from maintaining procedures to entering new assets, disposing of assets in the system, transfers and changes, and initiating the annual inventory process. Preparation of journal entries. Assist with monthly and quarterly investment reports. Assist with cash flow projections on a quarterly basis. Reconcile bank statements monthly. Create online products for schools’ fundraising activities. Assist Controller in maintaining compliance with arbitrage regulations. Records and Reports Assist with timely preparation of audit schedules and financial statements according to federal, state, and GASB standards. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required, including auditable records and financial statements. Other Handle all questions and requests in a prompt and courteous manner. Maintain confidentiality. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
