Grant Accountant

SEEKING: GRANT ACCOUNTANT Location: Downtown Area Pay: $23.50 per hour | Weekly Pay Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Assignment Duration: Expected to continue through December 31, 2026 Employment Type: Full-Time Contract SUPPORT FINANCIAL EXCELLENCE IN PUBLIC SERVICE Openwork is seeking a skilled Grant Accountant to join a respected government organization in Houston. This position offers an opportunity to apply your accounting expertise while supporting grant‑funded programs that positively impact the community. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Process accounting transactions, journal entries, and financial documentation Prepare and submit grant reimbursement requests and draw‑down packages Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and funding allocations Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records Review and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders Track project performance and ensure compliance with grant requirements Maintain accounting spreadsheets, reports, and supporting documentation Assist with audits, financial reporting, and special projects Collaborate with internal departments to gather and provide financial information Apply accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to daily operations QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of professional accounting experience may be considered Experience with grant accounting, fund accounting, or governmental accounting preferred Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs Experience with PeopleSoft is a plus Strong understanding of budgeting, project accounting, and general ledger processes Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards Familiarity with HUD regulations and 2 CFR 200 is a plus Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines BENEFITS Weekly pay Consistent Monday–Friday schedule Professional office environment Long‑term contract assignment Healthcare, dental, and vision benefits available Opportunity to gain valuable government accounting experience Collaborative and mission‑driven workplace Exposure to grant management and compliance processes Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE) #J-18808-Ljbffr
