Position Overview 1.0 FTE Full time Day – 08 Hour, R2655837 Onsite 107184023, Rad Therapy – Pleasanton, California (5725 W Las Positas Blvd). May be assigned to San Jose and Palo Alto locations for operational needs. Shift / Schedule Full‑time, Monday‑Friday, 8‑hour shifts. No weekends, no on‑call duty. Benefits Sign‑On Bonus / Relocation Eligible A Brief Overview The Radiation Therapist II is a health‑care professional responsible for administering radiation therapy with precision and accuracy under the guidance of the radiation oncologist. The therapy team provides excellent customer service and serves as the primary liaison between patients and other healthcare staff. The therapist maintains knowledge of radiation protection, safety, oncology techniques, physics, anatomy, and performs quality assurance, patient simulation, scheduling, immobilization, documentation, and after‑hours on‑call duties. The position also participates in quality and process‑improvement activities. Qualifications This job description covers all Radiation Therapist (RTT) classifications. All RTTs must meet the essential functions, qualifications, and supervision requirements. The organization offers a voluntary Career Ladder for advanced practice and promotions. What You Will Do Delivers advanced radiation therapy treatments in accordance with prescriptions, plans, and orders from the Radiation Oncologist. Provides safe, accurate patient care by consistently following department protocols and policies. Identifies and reports deviations from prescribed treatment instructions immediately to the Manager and files incident reports when applicable. Performs simple dosimetry calculations for urgent or emergent patient care, as needed. Conducts patient simulations, including fabrication of immobilization devices, when required. Participates in brachytherapy procedures, as required. Fabricates beam‑shielding devices, as required. Uses C‑I‑CARE principles and techniques to explain procedures to patients and families, addressing concerns and referring medical questions to appropriate personnel. Maintains an atmosphere of caring, concern, and support for patients, families, visitors, medical staff, and coworkers. Demonstrates teamwork and a positive contribution attitude. Observes patients for expected and unexpected treatment reactions, communicating findings to appropriate staff, and reinforces patient education regarding side‑effect management. Ensures accurate and complete documentation in the electronic health record. Understands billing procedures for treatment and simulation, reviews documentation daily for accuracy and completeness, and works closely with coders. Anticipates and facilitates patient flow by scheduling on treatment and simulation units, optimizing satisfaction and efficiency; alerts management when volumes exceed staffing levels. Troubleshoots and problem‑solves using lean methodologies; communicates issues to the Radiation Therapist‑Lead or Manager for escalation. Maintains a safe and orderly treatment room; checks safety controls daily and reports problems to management. Performs warm‑up and quality assurance checks of equipment, as necessary. Actively participates in problem‑solving and process‑improvement initiatives. Performs other related and incidental duties as needed or assigned. Education and Certifications License/Certification to meet requirements. Experience Qualifications At least two (2) years as an ARRT registered Radiation Therapist. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of modern radiation therapy equipment, simulation, imaging, and treatment procedures. Knowledge of human anatomy and proper patient positioning for prescribed treatment. Knowledge of safety, quality control, training, coaching, mentoring, scheduling, and billing procedures. Ability to demonstrate high levels of clinical reasoning in patient assessment and treatment. Ability to lead, coach, instruct, review work of other therapists and support staff. Ability to remain current with developments in clinical practice. Ability to assume responsibility for departmental projects and initiatives, such as safety, training, continuing education, performance, and quality improvement. Ability to communicate effectively and establish cooperative relationships with others. Base Pay Scale Generally starting at $70.52 – $93.43 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
